2018.

The year that my business rolled on ahead, growing for a 5th year in a row.

The year that Jenny Rusby and I launched Unscripted and dove full force into mentoring other photographers.

The year that I felt like I truly found my niche and my ‘people’.

The year that I found experts in their field and finally hired them to help me with my business. (The BEST decision!)

The year I swore I’d set better boundaries and take care of myself better, but didn’t really succeed at either of those.

The year I felt stifled in my own personal work (of my family) and that I couldn’t seem to produce anything that met my standards.

The year I was super disappointed to not place in certain competitions, but then bounced back by being published on the National Geographic website and on The Bump.

The year I stopped worrying about what everyone was doing and did what felt right for me.

2018 by the numbers

• 26,000 photos
• 4 new external hard drives (one of them 6 TB!)
• 62 photo sessions
• 1 fancy pants new website
• 47 self-portraits
• 3059 km driven to and from sessions
• 24 tutorials and exercises written for Unscripted.
• 19 returning clients
• 1 brand new car
• 1 e-book published – The Art of Self Portraits
• 17 brand new babies snuggled

 

At the end of each year, one of my favourite things to do is to go through the whole year of photos and put together a highlight reel.

This was 2018.
