If you missed part 1 of the Our 5 O’Clock series you can check it out here.
After shooting every day at 5:00 pm for the whole month, I can honestly say that I was happy the month was over. It was a challenge. A challenge to think creatively each day while doing the same routines over and over again and a challenge to take the time to shoot while my kids were tired & hungry. But, challenges make me grow as a photographer – getting out of that comfort zone (the rooms and light I like to shoot in most) is a good thing as comfort can lead to complacency. I have some new personal favourites now that I probably wouldn’t have captured if it weren’t for this project.
I’m happy that I have these memories to forever look back on. As our family grows so will our crazy evenings. I know they will change and get easier, and I’ll soon forget that 5:00 in our house used to mean little girls playing together on the floor, feeding hungry mouths and tiny bodies getting washed after a long day.
Here’s how our 5:00 pm looked for the second half of April.
