THE SESSION SLIDESHOW
One of the reasons I love in-home newborn photography so much is that every single home makes each session have a different feel. Aside from working hard to make sure the images are exactly what the family is hoping for, I’m obsessed with capturing the personality of a home so that it shines through in the final series of images. Baby Jovanni was lucky enough to be brought home to one of the cutest little homes in the Highlands area of Edmonton. Almost every inch of the home had been lovingly renovated, and I was excited to use the sloped ceilings and archways as a backdrop for his newborn photos.
This was a fun and busy session with 2 older siblings so we spent time doing what the kids love to do. The girls jumped on the bed while Mom fed Jovanni, everyone gathered in the nursery to show the baby every toy that was in his room, books we read, fancy balancing moves were done on Dad’s knee, and some basketball highlights were even watched! That’s what this about. It’s about spending time at home as a family and loving on each other while I happen to be there to catch it all and make it into gorgeous art. It’s not about forcing older siblings to sit still or to smile on demand.
