lounge pants, a canned mixed drink and fake coffee walk into a bar….
Jul 22, 2020
Ok, ok.
It’s not a bar.
It’s my house.
But! What happens if those things walk into a house together? (Let’s be honest, they don’t walk – they arrive in my mailbox and I bring them inside with glee, but let’s run with this little joke, shall we?)
Well, they become COVID faves.
My very best friends tell me that I’m their person who’s just full of random knowledge and who also remembers everything. Need an energy-busting summer camp? Website for paleo muffins? Tips on buying a new camera? Swim diapers with penguins on them? (<<—serious question that I’ve been asked….and answered).
I’ve got you.
I’m happy to be your go-to resource of random tidbits, too.
So! Here are a few discoveries from the last 4 months, which have permanently taken up residence in my life, and I’m thinking you might dig them:
These lounge pants. Hit ‘buy’, and you too can live in these multiple times a week. 🙈 They’re a bit high maintenance they require cold-water washing and hang drying, but they are SO worth it. Order up a size so they’re more like joggers than leggings.
Maybe it’s the novelty of trying new things or maybe it’s the satisfying sound that comes from opening the can, but lately, I’m all over these. Yes, I can (and do) make my own, but when we’re out camping, these are just so much easier. Extra fancy? Add fresh mint and a glass!
Maki, miso soup, fried chicken and brussels sprouts? Together? Match made in heaven. I don’t even like miso soup, but the soup from Kobachi makes me like it! Order the Kazoku Bento and share it with your spouse after the kids go to bed! (Pro tip: get the spicy chicken) Other food we order on the regular: the dinner for 2 from Taste of India Express (we always get butter chicken, veggie korma and mattar paneer and then ask for extra naan instead of rice) and the 5 piece chicken set from Seoul Fried Chicken (with fries, kale salad and the garlic soy sauce). The chicken thighs that I am about to put into the over for dinner tonight are now seeming waaaay less appealing.
Being home all hours of the day with small humans, caused my coffee addiction to spiral into out-of-control territory and I knew I needed to rein it in. Enter, this coffee substitute that acts as a stand-in for coffee #2 of the day. I make it double the strength as recommended on the package and will sometimes even make it into a latte. It’s not an exact replica of coffee, but I think it’s way better than tea.
If you’re tired of heavy news and the never-ending will-they/will-they-not go back to school talk, put your headphones on a listen to a few episodes of this. I even got my husband into this one when we’re on the road and need something nice and light.
Now it’s YOUR turn. Really. Comment below and tell me the one thing you’ve discovered since this horrible cold (as my daughter calls it) hit. I want to know.
