One of my very favourite things about family photography is being able to capture a moment or activity that’s special to your family right now. Something that maybe started as nothing, but has turned into a family favourite and is highly anticipated. These are the things that mean so much at the time, but often fade out as kids grow and then you forget all about them, moving onto something new.
When I arrived for our half day in the life with the Brown family (if they look familiar, it’s because we did this a few years ago too!), they said they wanted to hang out at home, have dinner and then go do sip and chip. Sip and chip? I had no idea what that was, but was looking forward to finding out! Well, it turns out that Sip and Chip involves piling the bikes in the truck, heading to Mac’s for a slurpee and chips and then biking around the park while having a slurpee + chip drive through. Fun, right? It was pretty much the perfect middle to a session, which then ended with a backyard fire, a bedtime snack and books before bed.
Below is the slideshow of our 6 hours together, followed by a few of my favourite images from this day in the life family photo session.
Who can relate to that last photo???? I am pretty sure I look almost exactly like that every night when I’m willing my kids to brush their teeth faster and to GET IN BED.
Ready to document what a day in your life looks like? Send me a note and we’ll chat about how we can capture your special moments (and all the ones in-between too!).
