This month for me has been full of anticipation. This pregnancy hasn’t been easy.  I’ve struggled with the fact that I can’t do the things I am used to doing. In my first pregnancy I hardly slowed down until the very end, but this one has challenged me and forced me to take a step back from many things. Maybe it’s because I am older, maybe it’s because I have a toddler to chase after, or maybe it’s just because this is a different pregnancy…who knows, I just know that it’s been a tough few months and I am more than ready for this little girl to make her appearance.

Photography can be very cathartic for me. When I’m feeling confused or uncertain, it’s often helpful for me to just be alone with my camera and take a few shots. It forces me to slow down.  I have to think about my camera settings, the scene, and the emotion that I want to convey. I do this a bit subconsciously when I am shooting other people, but when all I have is myself to put in front the camera things take a bit more contemplation. Throughout this pregnancy I’ve been thankful to have photography to not only document my growing body, but to also help me express my emotions. I’ve taken many selfies over the months and looking back on them now I can truly appreciate the journey I’ve been on for the past 38 weeks. As much as I do love the connection that I have with this baby now, I can’t wait for her to really be part of our family and for our next chapter to begin.
