Being invited to document pregnancy AND newborn adventures for a family is something special. It’s my favourite part of this job because I know I’m handing over photos that tell a more complete story. When little Kade is old enough, he’s going to be able to look back and see the joy his parents had waiting for him to arrive and the love in their eyes when they looked at him after he was Earth side.

Fun fact about this maternity session….the day we got together to take maternity photos it was about -30C outside (no joke). We’d planned on doing half the maternity session in their Sherwood Park home and then heading to the park at Woodbridge Farms for some outdoor shots. We did the indoor portion, then the mom-to-be, Michelle, headed to her baby shower, with plans to meet up with me later in the evening. Well, I got a text from her that just loading her gifts from the shower into her car, her face nearly froze off….so, we rolled with the punches and did the outdoor portion a few days later (in the total slush because this is Alberta and the weather is fickle). Luckily it all worked out and we got a great mix of indoor and outdoor photos.

A few weeks later I received the message that little Kade had been born. (These are the best types of messages in my world!) When Kade was just a few weeks old we met up again and hung out at home for a few hours. Kade was such a content baby, happy to snuggle with mom and dad, only panicking when his bottle wasn’t heated fast enough for his liking.
