I’m no longer on Facebook so these days all of my focus goes to Instagram and I use a few key apps to make life easier and to make posting more efficient.

Later

Later is the app I use the most and it allows you to preschedule posts for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. I’ve always used the free account, which allows you to post up to 30 IG posts per month. If you pay to upgrade you can post more images, pre-schedule video posts and even answer comments from your computer.

I log into Later on my computer, upload my images and write captions. Then when I’m ready to post to IG, I open the Later app on my phone and it allows me to post the pre-done posts to IG. When I’m in the mood I’ll often batch upload a bunch of photos and captions so that when I don’t have fresh content, there are backups ready to go.

I don’t have an IG business profile (because I don’t have a business FB page, it won’t let me!), but if you do have one, Later will now even auto post to IG for you.

Although I’ve never used it, I know many people also swear by Planoly as a bulk uploader and scheduler.

Adobe Spark Post

Adobe Spark is my new love. If you have the Adobe CC photography plan then you have access to Adobe Spark on the computer, but even if you don’t have Adobe on your computer, you can download the Adobe Spark Post app. The app allows you to choose from templates for all different types of social media posts and you can easily change text and backgrounds to make it interesting. If you have brand colours you can pre-load them into the app and it will automatically use your brand colours in the templates.

Canva

Similar to Adobe Spark Post, Canva is a free resource that allows you to quickly create posts that reflect your brand. Choose from many free templates or start from scratch to make cohesive posts. This is a great tool to use if you like to post quotes or text as part of your IG grid.

Rotate & Flip Video – RFV

Lately, I’ve been sharing full client slideshows to my IG stories. The problem though is that they are orientated the wrong way to fill the screen. RFV allows you to rotate video and re-save it to your camera roll. Then all you have to do is tell your viewers to rotate their phone – there’s even a GIFF of a phone rotating (or there used to be, before IG removed my access to GiFFs!) you can use on a screen.

CutStory

CutStory will take one long video and cut it into smaller chunks, then re-save it to your photos. You select the length of video you want and the app does the rest. This will allow you to show videos in IG Stories, one after the other so that if someone watches your whole story it will appear seamless.
